Health Ministry to recruit 3,000 new people including 1,200 medical technologists

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has given a directive for recruiting 1,200 medical technologists, 1,650 medical technicians and 150 cardiographers as soon as possible to help tackle the coronavirus situation in the country.
The directives were given via a government notice issued by the ministry on Monday.
The notice said that the current number of medical technologists and technicians appointed for collecting and testing samples are not enough to provide service to the ever-rising number of coronavirus patients in the country.

That is why 3,000 more posts have been created to accommodate a larger workforce and speed up the process.
But among the 1,200 posts for medical technologists, appointments for 183 posts will be done under special consideration while the recruitment of the remaining 1,017 posts will be done as per normal procedure.
It has been learned that around 30,000 medical technologists are currently unemployed. Of them 15,000 are lab technologists.
The government has not recruited any medical technologists since 2008. A job circular for medical technologists was issued in 2013, but the recruitment could not go ahead as a case against the circular is now under trial at the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.
