National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases receives Bangabandhu Public Administration award
The government has awarded the Bangabandhu Public Administration Medal 2023 to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in recognition of their significant contribution to research and human welfare.
The director of the hospital, Professor Dr. Mir Jamal Uddin, received the medal on behalf of the hospital from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Monday (31 July).
On the occasion of receiving the award, the doctors, officers, nurses, and employees of the hospital met with the director as a courtesy on Tuesday. At that time, the director said, "This is an achievement of all those working in the institute."
He urged the hospital to strive to provide the highest level of service to the patients.
The NICVD started its journey in 1978 with 10 cabins and 110 beds under the initiative of the Government of Bangladesh and with the technical support of the Government of Japan. Currently, it is the country's largest government specialised cardiac hospital with 1,250 beds.
