Nationwide vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign begins 5 June
The campaign titled “National Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Campaign” will continue until 19 June
The government will begin nationwide vitamin 'A' plus campaign from June 5, amid the second wave of ongoing covid-19 pandemic in the country.
The campaign titled "National Vitamin 'A' Plus Campaign" will continue until 19 June, said a health ministry press release.
The National Nutrition Services (NNS) under the ministry of health and family welfare and the Institute of Public Health Nutrition (IPHN) will organise the campaign jointly.
During the campaign, six to 11 months old children will be provided a blue capsule containing 1, 00,000 international units (IU) of vitamin A while children aged between 12 to 59 months will be given a red capsule containing 2, 00,000 IUs of vitamin A.
Parents, maintaining proper Covid-19 health and safety guidelines, are requested to take their children at nearest campaign centers from 9 am to 4 pm for getting the capsules.
The campaign will be held in immunisation (EPI) centers, permanent health centers, community clinics, and other government healthcare-providing establishments across the country.
There will be no mobile vitamin A capsule centers during this year's campaign, the release added.
