Bangladesh is likely to begin using potential coronavirus drug remdesivir on patients by May 20. The clinical trial of potential vaccines will begin in June.
DG of the Directorate General of Drug Administration Major General Mahbubur Rahman made the remarks to the media after a meeting with several pharmaceutical companies on Thursday afternoon.
"We are talking to the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) regarding the clinical trial of two vaccines, one developed by Oxford and another from China," Mahbubur Rahman said.
"Many countries are witnessing positive results from the use of remdesivir on Covid-19 patients. We already gave permission to eight pharmaceutical companies to produce the medicine. We are hoping to get remdesivir within May 20," he added.
