US to provide at least 100 ventilators soon: Health Minister
The Minister spoke at a press briefing after a meeting on the handover of ventilator and gas analyzer machines at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital on Thursday at 3 pm
Health and Family Welfare Minister, Zahid Maleque, said, "America has stood by Bangladesh during any disaster in the country and, the US is sending at least 100 new ventilators to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic," said a press release.
The Minister spoke at a press briefing after a meeting on the handover of ventilator and gas analyzer machines at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital on Thursday at 3 pm.
Representing Bangladesh were, among others, State Minister for ICT, Junaid Ahmed Palak; Director General of the Department of Health, Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam. On behalf of the United States, Deputy Secretary of State, Stephen Edward Biegun; US Ambassador to Bangladesh, Earl R Miller, and other senior officials were present.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged their practical experiences in tackling the coronavirus crisis.
On the occasion, Deputy Secretary Biegun assured all possible assistance from the US to Bangladesh once vaccine production starts in future and committed to extend all possible assistance to Bangladesh to get the vaccine as soon as possible.
