Hefazat rampage: Only 21 arrested among 8,500 accused in Brahmanbaria
All the accused in the cases have been mentioned as unknown miscreants
Police till Wednesday morning arrested 21 suspects in separate drives among 8,500 people who have been sued in connection with the attacks, vandalism, and arson during protests of Hefazat-e-Islam in Brahmanbaria.
Eight cases were filed under different police stations in this regard. However, no name of any leader or activist of Hefazat responsible for the rampage mentioned in these cases. All the accused in the cases have been mentioned as unknown miscreants.
According to police sources, from 27 March to 30 March, six cases were filed at Sadar Model police station and two others at Ashuganj police station in connection with the violence. Five of these cases have been filed by the police as plaintiffs against 7,000 people. The remaining three cases have been filed on behalf of the affected organisations against 1,500 people.

"Three were detained on Wednesday morning," Ashuganj Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jabed Mahmud said.
Total 14 people, 10 in Brahmanbaria and four in Chattogram, died in the countrywide clashes with the law enforcers since Friday.
The Islamist group locked into sporadic clashes with law enforcement agencies from Friday to Sunday in Chattogram, Brahmanbaria, Dhaka and Narayanganj during their protests and hartal over Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bangladesh visit.
