Inform CTTC if anyone aged over 16 goes missing: DMP chief
The DMP chief asked the police to remain alert so the law and order situation does not deteriorate due to the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Shafiqul Islam on Wednesday instructed the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit to inquire about anyone over 16 year old who went missing.
The DMP chief also instructed other officials to inform the CTTC if they have any information or general dairy at the police stations about missing people aged over 16.
"Situations are getting normal as the government has relaxed the restrictions over Covid-19. The police must remain alert so the law and order situation does not deteriorate due to the relaxed restriction," said Shafiqul while addressing the monthly conference at the DMP headquarters.

Earlier, on Monday, Shafiqul expressed his fear the recapture of Afghanistan by the Talibans might encourage militancy in Bangladesh and other countries in the sub-continent.
Shafiqul said guardians of youths, university teachers and authorities must have close monitoring on youths and inform the police if anyone went missing.

He further said the resurgence of militancy in Bangladesh was always connected with such international major events and the current development in Afghanistan might encourage some youths in Bangladesh to get involved in militancy.
On Saturday, the DMP chief said some Bangladeshis had already left for Afghanistan in response to the call from the Taliban to join the ongoing fighting there.
