Information ministry gets new name
The ministry will now be known as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting
The government has amended the name of the information ministry and changed it to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification in this regard on Monday, saying the change has been made with immediate effect.
According to the notification, the President has amended the name exercising the power conferred by Article 55 (6) of the Constitution.
Earlier on 1 March, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud briefed the reporters that the authorities are mulling to restore the name "Ministry of Information and Broadcasting", the first-ever name of the ministry after Bangladesh's independence.
