Work on Bangabandhu Rail Bridge done 47%, will finish in August
The overall progress of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge project is 47%, said project director Masud Al Fattah.
"The bridge constructed by the Ministry of Railways, funded by JICA, will be completed within the stipulated time in August," he expressed his hope while talking to reporters who visited the spot on Thursday (10 November).
The project director noted that out of the 49 spans of the 4.8km railway bridge, four spans of superstructure have been completed.
Though the progress of the work in the western part is a little slow, some parts of the bridge are now visible, he noted.
In response to queries from journalists regarding any possible hurdles in the construction, Masud said that current global problems will not create any crisis in the works.
The project cost is estimated at Tk16,780 crores.
During the visit, Gazi Mohammad Shahnawaz, member of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Railways; Kamrul Ahsan, Additional Director General (Infrastructure) of Bangladesh Railway; Asim Kumar Talukder, General Manager of Bangladesh Railway Western Region; ATM Anisur Rahman Bulbul, Vice President of Bangladesh Farmers League Central Working Committee, visited the project.
The concerned officials were present at this time.
