‘It’s a rumour, not a penny was spent on Razakars' list’
Strict action would be taken against those who are involved in spreading this propaganda
The Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque today said that the news of Tk60 crore allocation for preparing the list of Razakars' is just a rumour.
"The government did not allocate any amount for preparing the list, so we did not spend a single penny for it," the minister made the remark while talking to the media in the morning.
"Strict action would be taken if the people and authorities involved in spreading this propaganda not withdraw the news within December 25," a press release issued by the ministry said.
Several media outlets published news on Wednesday saying the Liberation War Affairs Ministry had spent Tk60 crore to prepare the list.
The ministry on December 15 published a list of 10,789 Razakars who collaborated with the Pakistani occupation forces during the War of Liberation in 1971.
But the list drew huge criticisms as the names of freedom fighters were in it.
Later on December 17, Mozammel Haque apologised for his Ministry's mistake in publishing the wrong list without proper investigation.
On December 18, his ministry suspended the Razakars' list.
The corrected list will be published on March 26 next year, the minister said on the same day.
