Jasad demands reducing urea fertiliser price
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) has condemned the price hike of urea fertiliser and demanded the withdrawal of the decision immediately.
Jasad President Hasanul Haque Inu, MP, and General Secretary Shireen Akhtar, MP, made the demand in a statement Tuesday (2 August).
"Despite the impact of the global pandemic Covid-19, farmers continued agricultural production and ensured food security without any additional incentives, whereas industrialists and businessmen have received various incentives from the government.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called upon the farmers to ensure food security by increasing food production very carefully," the statement read.
Jasad said despite the Prime Minister's clear call, the decision to increase the price of urea fertiliser will create a negative situation in continuing food production and ensuring food security.
They demanded steep measures to stop the wastage, corruption and unnecessary indulgence using state funds while continuing the subsidy in agriculture and withdrawing the decision to increase the price of urea fertiliser.
