Job-seekers now can sit for BCS exam 4 times
Advisory Council decides to establish separate admin for 7 colleges at DU
Candidates will now be permitted to take the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination a maximum of four times.
The decision came at a meeting of the Advisory Council of the interim government today (31 October).
The meeting also decided to establish a fully independent administrative system for the seven affiliated colleges within Dhaka University, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser Shafiqul Alam said at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka this evening.
According to the press secretary, Education Adviser Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan met and spoke with student representatives from the seven colleges.
During the meeting, it was decided to designate a specific area within Dhaka University for the administrative activities of these colleges. This area will include a separate registrar and designated officials and staff to manage their affairs. Discussions will also be held with Dhaka University and the University Grants Commission to finalise the decision.
The press secretary expressed hope that students would call off their ongoing protests in light of this decision.
Previously, in a meeting of the Advisory Council held on October 24, it had been decided that candidates could sit for the BCS examination a maximum of three times, which sparked widespread debate. The interim government has now revised that decision, allowing candidates a maximum of four attempts at the BCS examination, said Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.
In addition, the interim government has decided in the Advisory Council meeting that Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul will assume the administrative and financial responsibilities of the speaker of the national parliament.
The press secretary explained that, as the speaker's position is currently vacant, Dr Asif Nazrul will handle the associated financial and administrative duties.
