What has happened so far
A group of those injured during the July-August revolution, who had earlier blocked city roads, have reached the residence of Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Minto Road in the capital after breaking through a police barricade.
Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Committee, arrived at midnight to calm the protesters.
The commotion, however, has meant he has not been able to speak to them yet.
Around 200 protesters, including injured individuals and their families, staged a sit-in protest near NITOR, commonly known as Pangu Hospital, blocking routes from Shishu Mela to Agargaon and Mirpur Road.
Several protesters vented anger, saying they were not receiving proper treatment even though they sustained severe injuries, including some who lost vision in one eye and others in both. They now demand the government gives them written assurances that their demands will be met.
Meanwhile, some of the injured have also complained that the student movement coordinators were busy forming political parties instead of communicating with the families of those injured.
They also questioned the government's "lack of efforts" in rehabilitating the injured.
They have been protesting since Saturday, demanding proper treatment, rehabilitation and state recognition.
After leaving Agargaon earlier today, they headed towards CA's Jamuna residence.
They reached Shahbagh around 7:30pm, where they faced police barricade.
They broke the barricade around 12:15am. The protesters were still at the spot till filing of this report after 1:20am.
