Khaleda’s family appeals for extending her parole

The family of imprisoned BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has appealed seeking extension of her parole to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In the application, Khaleda's family also appealed to allow the BNP chairperson to go out of the country for better treatment, Somoy TV reports.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said, "A letter has been sent to the law ministry for further action on her release."
Khaleda Zia's lawyer said, "The government could pardon her if it wants." However, ACC lawyers said that the government has no jurisdiction to make a decision without a court order.Khaleda was sent to Old Dhaka Central Jail after she had been sentenced to five years' imprisonment by a special court in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 8, 2018.
On March 25, Khaleda was released from jail for six months upon an executive order considering her age and humanitarian ground.
The government passed the executive order for her release on two conditions -- receiving treatment staying at her Gulshan residence and not leaving the country.
