Knowledge Fair 2024: Youth urged to advocate for their rights
Young people have been called upon to actively advocate for their rights and well-being, and to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Bangladesh.
This was urged at the 9th Annual Knowledge Fair 2024 by the Share-Net Bangladesh in the capital on Thursday, with the theme "YouthPower 2024: Nothing without us", organised by RedOrange Communications.
Md Saifullahil Azam, director general of the Directorate of Family Planning, emphasised the crucial role of youth in driving positive change.

He urged them to speak out against social discrimination, injustice, and oppression, and to demand equality, justice, and rights.
Azam also expressed his aspiration for a healthy and empowered life for all people in the country, especially the youth.
Dr Vibhavendra Raghuvanshi, chief of Health at UNFPA Bangladesh, underscored the significance of sexual and reproductive health and rights education in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He also said government support is essential for creating an enabling environment for young people to acquire knowledge in this regard.
Thijs Woudstra, deputy head of Mission at the Netherlands Embassy, highlighted the unmet needs of the youth, emphasising the importance of young people being not only beneficiaries but also active participants in the country's development, particularly in areas of healthcare, gender equality, and climate action.
Dr Halida Akhter Hanum, chairperson of Share-Net in Bangladesh (SNBD), urged increased attention to marginalised adolescents and youth, including those who are physically challenged, sexually assaulted, refugees, or living in remote areas.
