5-day BGB-BSF border conference ends today
A five-day border co-ordination conference between high level officials of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) concluded on Friday.
The conference that started on 7 June, was held through Video Tele Conferencing (VTC) for the first time, in the wake of COVID pandemic situation, said a press release.
Officials of Inspectors General level in BSF and Region Commanders in BGB signed a Joint Record of Discussion (JRD) document on the concluding day of the conference.

Various bilateral border issues- trans-border crimes including smuggling of drugs and other narcotic substances, activities by Indian insurgent groups from Bangladesh side, border violation and their preventive measures, pending developmental works, construction of single row fence along Indo-Bangladesh International Boundary and Coordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP) were discussed at the conference.
Leaders of both the delegations agreed to take preemptive measures for creating an environment of peace and tranquility along the international border by amicably resolving all the pending issues and further strengthening the bond of friendship, trust and co-operation.
The head of BGB delegation, Tanveer Gani Chowdhury, Additional Director General, Region Commander of South-East Region, Chattogram conveyed his gratitude to BSF delegation for attending the Video Tele Conference and for making valuable contribution through thoughtful deliberations, which resulted into successful conclusion with agreements on various aspects.
The head of BSF delegation Sh. Susanta Kumar Nath, IPS, Inspector General of BSF Tripura Frontier also highlighted sincere commitment of both the Border Guarding Forces in maintaining peace and harmony along the Indo-Bangladesh international border and in strengthening the already robust friendly relations.
