Rab charges 10 people in 9,000 crore worth cocaine smuggling case in Chattogram
On June 7, 2015, a container filled with cocaine was seized at the NCT (New Mooring Container Terminal) yard at Chattogram Port under the guise of illegally imported sunflower oil without LC.
RAB has filed a charge-sheet against 10 people in a Cocaine smuggling case at the Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate court. The cocaine was worth TK9,000 crore.
According to a press release, the investigating officer filed the charge sheet under the special powers act on June 29 against Golam Mostafa Sohel, Nur Mohammad, Md Mostafa Kamal, Md Mehedi Alam, Md Atikur Rahman, AKM Azad, Md Saiful Islam, MostakAhammad Khan, Fazlur Rahman and Bakul Mia after the investigation on Monday.
On June 7, 2015, a container filled with cocaine was seized at the NCT (New Mooring Container Terminal) yard at Chattogram Port under the guise of illegally imported sunflower oil without LC.
In the presence of various agencies, the seals of the container were later broken and 107 blue plastic drums were found. A total of 370 liters of liquid cocaine was detected in 2 drums by testing samples of sunflower oil in 107 drums in a lab.
A case was filed at the Port Police Station on June 27, 2015 under the Narcotics Control Act and Special Powers Act.
According to the court order, cocaine and sunflower oil were destroyed on February 5 this year in the presence of the home minister at the premises of RAB-7's Patenga Chattogram office.
