One killed, 6 injured as AC explodes at UAE visa office in Dhaka
A technician was killed and six more were injured as an air-conditioner (AC) compressor exploded at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) visa centre in Dhaka's Gulshan area on Wednesday afternoon.
The explosion took place at 1:50pm on the ground floor of the NCC building.
Confirming the matter, Gulshan OC (operations) Shahnoor Rahman said, an AC technician was killed in the blast.
On information, two units of fire service and bomb disposal team rushed to spot, said Rasel Shikder, fire service control room duty officer, told The Business Standard.
The extent of the damage could not be ascertained immediately.
The explosion created panic among dwellers and pedestrians.
Earlier in September last year, at least 34 people were killed after six air conditioners exploded simultaneously in a Narayanganj mosque.
