Level playing field has been ensured: CEC
KM Nurul Huda also claimed that the commission has found no evidence of harassment of BNP-backed candidates during electioneering
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda has said that a level playing field has been ensured for all mayor and councillor candidates in the forthcoming Dhaka city elections slated for February 1.
A level playing field refers to a situation in which every contestant has a fair and equal chance of succeeding.
While talking to the media on Monday afternoon, the CEC also claimed that the commission has found no evidence of harassment of BNP-backed candidates during electioneering for the upcoming city polls.

He, however, assured of looking into the allegations of harassment.
"The law enforcement agencies have been asked to beef up security for the voters," he added.
On Sunday, BNP-backed mayoral candidate for the Dhaka South City Corporation Ishraq Hossain came under attack while he was on an election campaign in the Old Dhaka.
Ishraq Hossain alleged that the attack was a part of a ploy to disrupt the elections.
Last week, BNP nominated mayoral candidate for the Dhaka North City Corporation Tabith Awal was attacked while he was electioneering in Dhaka's Mirpur area.
Tabith alleged that Awami League-backed councillor candidate Mujib Sarwar Masum and his followers swooped on them while they were busy in electoral campaign.
