An intense traffic gridlock over an 8km stretch on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Munshiganj's Gajaria area has been plaguing commuters since this morning (21 November).
The gridlock started after a goods-laden truck overturned after an accident on the Meghna Bridge in Gajaria upazila at around 7am, according to highway police.
Md Faruk Hossain, a Dhaka-bound truck driver, said, "I have been stuck in the traffic jam for more than an hour. The vehicles are not moving, and I have no idea when I will reach Dhaka."
Passengers and drivers of many vehicles echoed Faruk's remarks.
Contacted, Bhaberchar highway police outpost In-charge Humayun Kabir said, "The overturned truck can't be moved until the goods are unloaded. We are trying to clear the road as soon as possible."
