The main congregation of Eid-ul-Adha was held at the Baitul Mukarram in the capital at 7:00am today.
The devotees prayed following social distancing and health guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The first congregation was held at 7am, the second at 7:50am, the third at 8:45am, the fourth at 9:35am respectively, the fifth Jamat will be held at 10:30am, while the sixth and last congregation will be held at 11:10am.
Devotees came from different parts of the capital to take part in the first congregation of Eid-ul-Adha.
The mosque gate was opened at 6am for the devotees, but the west gate of the mosque was closed. The hand washing and disinfection facilities have been set up in a room of the mosque.
The government issued 13 conditions for Eid-ul-Adha prayer, including -the whole mosque should be cleaned with disinfectant before the prayers, customary mosque mat cannot be installed, people will have to bring personal prayer mat (Jainamaz), everyone must wear a mask, wash their hands with soap before entering the mosque, the Jainamaz and cap reserved in the mosque should not be used and most importantly the physical distance should be maintained while standing in the prayer line.
Mayor of South City Corporation Sheikh Fazle Nur Taposh, Secretary of the Ministry of Religion, Director General of the Islamic Foundation Anis Mahmud and other officials were present at the occasion.
