Main Eid jamaats held at Baitul Mukarram
The fifth Jamat will be held at 11:15am in the mosque
After a long month of fasting in Ramadan, the main jamaats (congregation) of the biggest religious festival of Muslims, Eid-ul-Fitr, was held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital today.
The devotees prayed following social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The first jamaat was held at 7am, the second at 8am, the third at 9am, the fourth at 10am respectively and the fifth Jamat will be held at 11:15am.
Devotees came from different parts of the capital to take part in the first jamaat of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The mosque gate was opened at 6am, and hand washing and disinfection facilities have been set up in a room of the mosque.
The government issued 13 conditions for Eid-ul-Fitr prayer including the whole mosque should be cleaned with disinfectant before the prayers, people should bring janamaz, everyone should wear a mask, wash their hands with soap before entering the mosque, the janamaz and cap reserved in the mosque should not be used, physical distance should be maintained while standing in the prayer line.
To contain the spread of the virus, the government instructed not to organise Eid jamaat on the Supreme Court premises, the main Eid congregation of the country. In addition, instructions have been given not to perform prayers in open places all over the country. Thus, Eid prayers are being performed in the mosque.
