Man beaten to death in Pabna on suspected theft charges
A man was lynched to death by a mob that accused him of being a cattle thief in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna, reports UNB.
The deceased, identified as Babu, aged 45, hailed from Bera upazila within the district.
Locals said cattle farmer Idris Ali screamed saying that someone was taking away his cattle from a barn in Goalbathan village under Muladali union of the upazila around 1am.
Hearing this, neighbours came out of their houses and caught Babu and gave him a good thrashing, leaving him dead on the spot, they said.
Hasan Basir, the Inspector in charge of investigation at the Ishwardi police station, confirmed the man's death. He added that the body was in police custody and would be released to his family after the necessary legal formalities are completed.
