A man was arrested in Mymensingh for posting slanderous remarks on Facebook opposing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bangladesh visit to attend the celebration of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Dhaka on March 17.
"Police arrested Emdadul Haque under the Digital Security Act on Wednesday evening from Mymensingh's Atanibazar area in Muktagachha upazila," Officer-in-Charge of the Muktagachha police station Biplob Kumar said.
Emdadul posted several defamatory posts from his personal Facebook account against inviting Indian PM Modi to celebrate "Mujib Barsho", the OC added.
Earlier, he also posted slanderous remarks on General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Qader.
A case was filed against him under the Digital Security Act. Later, he was sent to jail.
