Manab Zamin’s editor among 32 sued for defamatory news on Papiya

A case was filed today against the Daily Manab Zamin's Editor Matiur Rahman Chowdhury and 31 others for allegedly publishing defamatory news on Shamima Nur Papiya, an expelled leader of the ruling party.
The case was filed by Saifuzzaman Shikhor, the member of parliament (MP) from Magura 1.
Papiya, the expelled general secretary of Jubo Mohila League's Narsingdi district unit, an associate organisation of the ruling Awami League, found a career in politics through her husband Mofizur Rahman Sumon.
On February 22, Papiya, her husband and their accomplices were arrested from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka when they were trying to flee the country. The RAB seized counterfeit notes, foreign currency and around Tk2.5 lakh from their possession.
