The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has asked the four maritime ports of the country to hoist warning signal 3 in preparation of possible gusty winds over the northern Bay of Bengal and its adjacent coastal areas.
The Patenga Met Office in Chattogram issued the warning from 3pm on Sunday.
Uzzal Kanti Paul, assistant meteorologist at the Patenga office told The Business Standard that 59.7mm rainfall was recorded in Chattogram in 24 hours until 6pm on Sunday.
"The sky above the port city may remain cloudy in the next 24 hours," he added.
At the same time, there may be intermittent moderate-to-heavy rainfall with temporary gusts in most coastal areas, said Uzzal.
