Mashrafe among 90 sued in Narail
Golam Mortaza Swapan, father of Mashrafe, was among the accused
A case has been filed against 90 people including former captain of Bangladesh national cricket team Mashrafe Bin Mortaza on charges of carrying out attacks on students and people during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Sheikh Mostafa AL-Muzahidur Rahman Palash filed the case with Narail Sadar Police Station yesterday night (10 September), said Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Golam Mortaza Swapan, father of Mashrafe, was among the accused.
According to the case statement, Mashrafe and his father along with others equipped with sharp weapons and arms held a rally at Narail intersection during the movement on 4 August.
When the procession of students demanding the resignation of Sheikh Hasina reached near Russel Setu, accused Hafiz Khan Milon and Naeem Bhuiyan shot at the procession with pistols under the order of former municipal mayor Anjuman Ara and district Awami League organising secretary Sardar Alamgir Hossain.
At that time, Shafiqul Islam and Sohan Biswas, of Palidanga village of Sadar Upazila, were seriously injured. Besides, many people were injured by the bombs and bricks thrown by the accused.
