Medical admission test on 2 April, dental on 30 April
The admission test will be taken as per the previous rules
Admission test for MBBS of government and private medical colleges and BDS courses of dental colleges and units will be held centrally on 2 April and 30 April respectively.
Health and Family Welfare Ministry sources confirmed the matter to the media on Saturday.
Sources said, a final decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Thursday.
In this regard, the Director of the Department of Health Education (Medical Education and Health Manpower Development) Prof Dr Ahsan Habib told Somoy News on Saturday morning, "Online application for the admission test for MBBS course will start from 11 February and continue till 1 March."
He further said, "The admit cards for the MBBS admission test will be given on 20-25 March."
Also, the application period for BDS course is 27 March to 15 April. The admit cards will be distributed from 24 to 26 April.
The notifications of MBBS and BDS admission tests will be published in the national dailies shortly, he said.
In response to whether there are any new rules in the admission test, Dr Ahsan Habib said, "In order to bring any change in the admission test, the process has to start one to one and a half years earlier. A change can be brought about only if different stakeholders consider the pros and cons of different proposals through exchange of views and deem it necessary."
"Therefore, this year, the admission test will be taken as per the previous rules, i.e. admission test of MCQ system of 100 marks and 100 marks on the basis of marks obtained in SSC and HSC examinations. The national merit based list will be made on the basis of these 200 marks," he added.
