Bangladeshi citizens can now travel visa-free to Timor-Leste
Bangladeshi travelers can also stay in the Southeast Asian country for up to 30 days without a visa
Bangladeshi citizens holding diplomatic, official, or service passports can now travel to Timor-Leste without a visa.
Bangladeshi travelers can also stay in the Southeast Asian country for up to 30 days without a visa, the Cabinet Division in a press release today (9 January) stated that a treaty has been signed between the two countries.
Bangladesh has been signing visa exemption agreements with various countries to expand bilateral economic and trade cooperation and foster stronger international relations, the division also noted.
So far, Bangladesh has signed visa exemption agreements with 29 countries, including 21 in Asia, 4 in Europe, 1 in Africa, and 3 in the Americas, according to the press statement.
It stated that on 15 December 2024, during the official visit of Timor-Leste's president to Bangladesh, a visa exemption agreement was signed in the presence of representatives from both countries.
"The agreement applies to diplomatic, official, and service passport holders of both nations. Once effective, it will allow them to enter, transit, stay, and exit each other's territories without a visa for up to 30 days from the date of entry."
The agreement will remain valid indefinitely but may be terminated by either party with a 30-day prior notice, the release added.
