Malaysia court puts Bangladeshi youth on 14-day remand

Md Rayhan Kabir, a Bangladeshi youth who made various allegations against the Malaysian authorities through a documentary published by Al Jazeera, has been remanded for 14 days to assist in an investigation by the Malaysian authorities.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said Md Rayhan was detained by the Operations Intelligence Unit, Malaysian Immigration Department (Immigration) Putrajaya, at 5.45pm on Friday in Setapak before being handed over to the police at about 6.00pm reports tekdeeps.com.

"Authorities had arrested the man, on Friday, and he was remanded for 14 days to assist in the investigation, starting on Saturday."

"We will ensure the investigation is done as best as possible and then take appropriate action," he said.

On July 7, the Malaysian Immigration Department requested the assistance of the public to track down Md Rayhan to assist in the investigation according to the Immigration Act 1959/63.
