Owners of recruiting agencies have staged a demonstration demanding a labour market free of syndicates.
The Combined Coordination Front of the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (Baira) placed its demands at a human chain organised in front of the National Press Club on Tuesday.
The organisation has been waging a movement for the last week, with various demands.

It demanded that all labour markets across the world, including Malaysia, be kept open for all legitimate recruiting agencies by abolishing the syndicate system for the export of manpower from Bangladesh.
Speakers at the human chain said the syndicate is depriving the government of thousands of crores of taka in revenue and 12.25 lakh workers of jobs. They demanded that the government take steps to break this syndicate.
Baira Combined Coordination Front President Dr Mohammad Faruk said, "Syndication is an evil practice. It is a tool to exploit workers. When businesses are conducted in this way, the people of the country are exploited, there is inequality among the people, corruption increases, and the development of the country is hampered."
"The export of manpower has contributed vastly to the country's development," he added.
