Mobile courts fine more than Tk9 lakh in 90 cases during Dhaka North drive
The drive was carried out to ensure proper maintenance of health regulations during the ongoing nationwide lockdown
During a drive on Wednesday to see if the shopping malls are maintaining health regulations in the Dhaka North City Corporation, mobile courts fined a total of Tk9,75,460 in some 90 cases.
Three shops were also closed down during the time.
Dhaka North Mayor Atiqul Islam was present during the drive and inspected the shopping malls in Gulshan and Banani.
During the drive, Mayor Atiqul said that to prevent the transmission of Covid-19, markets must comply with the health regulations. Strict legal measures will be taken against those who fail to comply with the hygiene rules, the mayor warned.
"We are conducting mobile courts to enforce government-imposed lockdown to control the spread of the virus and are encouraging the citizens to abide by the hygiene rules," the mayor said.
"Today, for disobeying government ban, conducting business without a license, not complying with the health regulations, mobile courts fined a total of Tk9,75,460 in some 90 cases during the drive," the mayor added.
During this time, public awareness messages were spread by miking and hand sanitisers and masks were distributed.
