MP from same district counters Priya Saha’s claim
The minister said, his and Priya’s ancestral homes are in the same union, which hasn’t had any communal violence in the past
The allegations of communal suppression and violence that Priya Saha raised to the US President Donald Trump contrast with the respective police case filed in Bangladesh, said Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim.

The minister said: “One Priya Saha from my constituency has lodged a complaint to the US President, alleging that there had been cases of suppression and violence against the minority groups in my union in the past, drawing huge outcry from all around. As the place of my origin and the MP of the area, I invited you to inform the exact scenario.”
Priyo Bala Biswas (Priya Shaha), daughter of Nagendra Nath Biswas, presently lives in Jashore by marriage. Not Priya, but her father and brothers have properties in Pirojpur, the minister went on.
One her brothers, a retired government official, living outside of Pirojpur, filed a police case, as one of his abandoned rooms caught fire, added the minister.
“None was named in the case,” said the minister, as he distributed the relevant ‘case documents’ among the journalists.
“I challenge that my constituency reflects a tremendous example of communal harmony, where none never faced any discrimination for their respective religious identity,” Rezaul Karim added.
