Newspapers out of purview of general holidays
The government extended the ongoing general holidays till April 11
The newspapers of the country will be out of the purview of general holidays, said Public Administration Ministry.
According to the latest circular issued on extended holidays, the ministry included the names of newspaper and fuel in the list.
On Wednesday, the government extended the ongoing general holidays till April 11 to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country
Vehicles of emergency services including electricity, water, gas, fire service, cleaning, telephone and internet will be out of purview of the restrictions during the shutdown. Besides, same order will be applicable for vehicles carrying agricultural goods, fertilizers, food, medicine, daily essentials, fuel and journalists.
Offices can be kept open in case of emergency. Pharmaceuticals and export-oriented factories can remain open too during the holidays.
Earlier on March 23, the government declared a 10-day shutdown, effective from March 26 to April 4, to combat the spread of the coronavirus. The government also imposed containment measures including social distancing since March 24 across the country.
Bangladesh has so far confirmed six deaths and 56 infections from Covid-19.
