The fire service has not found anything suspicious in the basement of an under-construction building behind Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's house in Dhanmondi-32.
This information was confirmed today (9 February) by Mizanur Rahman, station officer of Mohammadpur Zone.
The fire service removed accumulated water from the basement, which became a hotly-discussed topic following allegations of the building housing a hidden "Aynaghor", or secret prison.
A day after Mujib's residence was demolished on 5 February, many came across the under construction building and saw there was a basement.
A portion of it was flooded, sparking theories that something must be hidden under the waters.
Amid the discussions, initiatives were taken to remove the water from the basement of the house in Dhanmondi 32.
A fire service team went there around 10am this morning to drain the water.
After several hours, the water drainage work was completed at 1:30pm, said fire service Officer in Charge Mizanur Rahman.
"We pumped out water into the nearby lake…But we did not find anything there."
