No security staff dismissed over disappearance probe: Govt
"Several TV stations are wrongly broadcasting news on this fabricated development," says Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder
Bangladesh security forces have not sacked any of their officers and members on the basis of any recommendations of the commission on inquiry into the cases of enforced disappearances in the country, said the government.
"Several TV stations are wrongly broadcasting news on this fabricated development," said Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder today (25 November).
Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury, the head of the commission, has confirmed that they did not make any such recommendation, Azad said.
"The news that 22 members of the country's security forces were sacked on the basis of our recommendation is a lie. It is bogus news," Azad quoted Justice Chowdhury as saying.
"We hope the TV stations will run a correction," Azad said.
