Non-MPO teachers start fast unto death for MPO facilities

Teachers and employees of non-MPO educational institutions started a fast unto death program from Monday in front of the National Press Club.
The demonstration was, however, withdrawn tonight after Golam and the agitated teachers had a meeting with Dr Dipu Moni where they were ensured their demands will be looked after once a new committee has been formed on November 14.
They said they were compelled to hold the programme after having an unfruitful meeting with the education minister on October 20.

The teachers and employees of recognized non-government institutions were holding a demonstration to meet their demand for listing under the government's new Monthly Payment Order (MPO) facilities.
"We will not stop our movement until we meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina", said Golam Mahmudunnabi Dollar, president of non-MPO shikkha protisthan shikkak kormochari federation.
