Nusrat murder case to be settled at High Court swiftly: Law Minister

Law Minister Anisul Huq on Friday said the verdict in Nusrat Murder case will be settled at the High Court within a very short time to ensure exemplary punishment for the murderers.
The law minister said this while addressing a press conference in his residence in Gulshan on Friday.
Anisul said the attorney general's office will be given an order to take initiative for the hearing after the death reference for the convicts in the case are prepared.

A tribunal in Feni on Thursday sentenced all the 16 accused to death for their roles in killing Nusrat. Now the subordinate court will send the death reference copy to the High Court for its approval.
"We want to send a message to the people that Sheikh Hasina's government will punish criminals no matter how powerful they are," said the law minister.
He also said following the due procedures, the judgement in the case was delivered in the shortest possible time.
Anisul Huq said the government will give protection to the Nusrat's family as long as it is necessary.
If any vested quarter threatens Nusrat's family members, necessary actions will be taken against them, he added.
