Packaging factory fire in Gazipur brought under control after four hours
A fire broke out at the packaging factory of Interpack Limited located in Adhepasha area of Gazipur city.
The incident took place at around 1:30am yesterday (19 November), and three units of the fire service brought the blaze under control at around 5:45am.
Iqbal Hasan, senior station officer of Chandana Chowrasta Modern Fire Service in Gazipur Metropolitan City, said goods of the factory were burnt in the incident, but there were no casualties.
According to the fire service and local sources, the factory was used for various types of printing and carton making.
The fire started from a spark in a transformer on an electric pole and later spread to the paper goods stored in the factory.
At first, the locals tried to put out the fire but failed and informed the fire service. After receiving the information, three units of the fire service managed to put out the fire after trying for four hours.
By then, all the goods manufactured by the factory, machinery, paper boards, liners and medium paper rolls, including all the goods, were completely burnt in the fire.
The factory's general manager, Kazi Firoz Ahmed, said there was a huge amount of manufactured goods in the factory. Which was supposed to be delivered on Wednesday. In addition, there were valuable paper boards, liners and medium paper rolls, and valuable machinery for printing. Everything was burnt in the fire. The factory suffered a loss of about Tk2.5 crore in the fire.
