Padma-Meghna rivers flowing below danger level in Chandpur
The rivers of Padma and Meghna were flowing below the danger level today (27 August) after days of flash floods that submerged vast tracts of the north and south-eastern regions.
The basin of the rivers Padma and Meghna were flowing below the danger level at 0.89 meters at 11am, Deputy Divisional Engineer of the Water Development Board of the district Atiqul Islam said.
The water level was 3.11 meters at 11am, at around 10am it was 2.99 meters, at 9am it was 2.63 meters and at 8am the water level was 2.25 meters and was still flowing below the danger level, he said.
However, the water pressure will increase slightly during the tide, he said. The maximum danger limit is 4 meters.
