Former state minister Palak, ex-home minister’s son Jyoti shown arrested in separate graft cases
Palak was shown arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act and Money Laundering Prevention Act
Former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Safi Muddaser Khan Jyoti, son of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, have been shown arrested in separate graft cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain passed necessary orders in this regard, as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the cases, ACC counsel Mahmud Hossain Jahangir told BSS.
Of the two, Palak was shown arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act and the Money Laundering Prevention Act.
The petition for this was submitted to the court by ACC Assistant Director Al Amin, the investigation officer of the case.
On the other hand, investigation officer and ACC Assistant Director Md Abul Kalam Azam filed the petition to show Jyoti arrested in a case over amassing an illegal wealth of Tk19,89,78,502 in collusion with his father former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
Jyoti is also accused of transferring and converting Tk84,77,57,572 through a company launched in his name.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak was arrested from the capital's Nikunja Residential Area on 14 August, while Jyoti was arrested from a house in the capital's Uttara area on 13 September.
