A total of 93 suspected muggers have been arrested in the last 24 hours in Dhaka city.
They were detained during a drive conducted by Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said Talibur Rahaman, deputy commissioner of DMP Media wing, during a press briefing at the DMP Media Centre today (23 December).
"The drive was conducted from 8am on Sunday to 8am on Monday. Among the arrestees, eight were from Ramna Division, 14 from Motijheel, 26 from Lalbagh, 10 from Wari, 19 from Tejgaon, four from Mirpur, eight from Uttara, and four from Gulshan," he said.

Mugging has become a concern in Dhaka, causing a widespread panic among city dwellers. Over the past one and half month 36 mugging incidents have been reported in the city, resulting in at least four deaths.
Amid rising public criticism of law enforcement's role, the commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police recently announced a crackdown on muggers to restore law and order.
