Physical condition of UNO Wahida improving gradually
After the surgery on Wahida Khanam's head, 37 hours have passed out of 72 hours of observation
The physical condition of Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam, who suffered serious injuries in a midnight attack by miscreants, is better than before, said Dr Jahed Hossain, head of the Department of Neuro Trauma at the Neuroscience Institute Hospital.
The medical board sat down to review her situation on Saturday. The director of the hospital was present at the meeting along with six members of the medical board.
According to the doctors, Wahida Khanam's level of consciousness is 15 out of 15, which is equal to a healthy person. Other physical conditions are also improving rapidly. The doctors said this after the meeting of the medical board on Saturday morning.
Dr Kanak Kanti Barua said that Wahida Khanam will recover quickly if there is no new infection. He requested to control the visits of the relatives and colleagues to prevent the infection.
Director General of the Health Department Khurshid Alam, while visiting ailing Wahida Khanam, told reporters, "She does not need to be taken abroad for treatment, but there is a risk of infection."
Helaluddin Ahmed, president of the Administrative Services Association and senior secretary to the local government, will hold a press briefing on the attack on Wahida Khanam at 3pm.

Wahida Khanam and her father Omar Ali were seriously injured in an attack by miscreants at her home on the Upazila Parishad premises early Thursday. She was airlifted to the National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital, Dhaka from Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Thursday.
Wahid's brother Sheikh Farid Uddin filed a case against the unidentified accused at Ghoraghat police station on Thursday night.
Rozina Parvin, officer-in-charge of Ghoraghat Upazila Ansar and Village defence Force, said four Ansar members were deployed to ensure the safety of the UNO family on Friday.
