Police has returned 363 stolen mobile phones to their actual owners after recovery.
According to Jhenaidah Cyber Crime Investigation Cell, police handed over the phones to their actual owners which were lost at different times in the last year, said Cyber Crime Investigation Cell Officer Khalid Hasan yesterday (28 January).
In addition, a team of the cell arrested several members of a fraud and hacking gang using digital platforms and revealed the mystery of clueless murders.
The Cyber Cell also recovered Tk18.42 lakh against 82 General Diaries (GDs) claimed by bKash and Nagad in Jhenaidah and returned it to their actual customers.
Khalid Hasan said this special police team has provided IT assistance to 6,852 people from six upazilas of the district.
A fraudulent gang was embezzling money from old-age allowance, widow allowance, and student stipend money through bKash, Rocket, Nagad and Upay by impersonating customer care people and hacking OTP. Members of such a gang were arrested and six mobile phones and 10 SIM cards were recovered from their possession, he said.
The Cyber Crime Investigation Cell is working to nab criminals involved with different crimes in the district, he added.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Finance and Administration) Md Imran Zakaria told BSS, "Our Cyber Crime Investigation Cell is very smart. Due to the monitoring of senior police officers, the cell has achieved great success in the last one year. We are working to ensure the desired services of the people."
