Police seize abandoned land cruiser belonging to ex-home minister Asaduzzaman Khan
The car was found abandoned on a Dhanmondi Road in the early hours of today (19 August. Later, it was taken to Dhanmondi police station using a tow truck.
Police have seized a Toyota Land Cruiser car owned by former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
The car was found abandoned on a Dhanmondi Road in the early hours of today (19 August. Later, it was taken to Dhanmondi police station using a tow truck.
According to BRTA registration, the land cruiser belongs to former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. Its registration number is DHAKA METRO GHA 21-8456 and the income tax was paid by TIN holder 511111255056, which is the TIN certificate issued to former home minister Asaduzzaman.
According to the income tax document, Tk450,000 was paid by Asaduzzaman in fiscal year 2022-23 and 2023-24 as income taxes.
Registration for the car was issued by Mirpur office of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) on 31 July, 2022, which was to be expired on 3 January, 2027.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is currently conducting an investigation against Asaduzzaman over allegations of acquiring illegal wealth via corruption.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has asked banks to freeze all the accounts of the former home minister to prevent him from making transactions at home and abroad.
