Police warn against rumour over Padma bridge
‘Killing someone labeling abductor is a criminal offense’
Police have urged people not to pay heed to the rumor which says ‘head and blood are required’ for Padma Bridge piling works.
In a media release, police headquarters also spelled stern action against those destabilising law and order by spreading such rumors.
Law enforcers have arrested a number of people on charges of spreading on social media the rumor that “children were being abducted for sacrifice by beheading.”

The prime minister also ordered authorities concerned to hunt those propagating the “unscientific, unrealistic, ridiculous idea”.
Amid ongoing raids, at least three people were killed while five others got injured on Saturday in Bangladesh after being beaten up on suspicion of being abductors.
The media release termed those deaths ‘tragic’, and added: “Police have seriously taken each lynching incident into consideration and looking into the matters. The culprits will soon be brought to book.”
“Killing someone labeling abductor is a criminal offense. Destabilising law and order by spreading rumors is also an anti-state activity.”
The statement also suggested not to be confused by the propaganda and asked all to hand over anyone if suspected as abductor to police.
“Don’t take the law into your own hand. And don’t listen or spread rumors,” it concluded.
