Advisers' appointment jurisdiction of CA: Fakhrul
BNP’s advice was not to appoint any controversial person in the posts of the advisers and there should not have any discrimination, he says
The issue of appointment of the advisers is the jurisdiction of the chief adviser, so BNP has nothing to say on it, the party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said today (13 November).
"Chief adviser is a highly efficient, meritorious and competent person, so he can appoint anybody if he thinks him or her qualified," he said in response to a query of a journalist at his residence at Thakurgaon's Kalibari area.
The BNP secretary general said, BNP's advice was not to appoint any controversial person in the posts of the advisers and there should not have any discrimination.
"If there is any mistake in appointing any adviser, they should correct it," he added.
The BNP leader observed that the kingpin of the past autocrat regime is hatching conspiracy from India, where she is staying.
"Indian government is trying to foil the achievement of the mass upsurge," he said urging all to remain alert about this.
Responding to another question, the BNP Secretary General admitted that prices of some essential items have gone beyond the purchase capacity of the commoners.
The interim government should take necessary steps for reforming the economic sector side by side with political ones, he added.
Rejecting the electoral system for proportional representation in the parliament Mirza Fakhrul urged the party leaders and workers not to lose patience for election and allow the interim government to allow them logical time for the poll.
"It's not possible to clear the wastes of 17 years in 17 days of 17 months… it will take time," he noted saying the interim government should not take all reforms in their hands.
"Reforms of all sectors are not the responsibility of the interim government. Next parliament would accomplish the task," he said.
Earlier, he laid foundation of the new office of Thakurgaon District BNP as Awami League cadres torched it on August 4 last during the mass upsurge.
BNP Thakurgaon district general secretary Mirza Faysal Amin, former parliament member from Thakurgaon-3 constituency Zahidur Rahman, joint general secretary Paygam Ali, president of Poura BNP Sharif Hossain and president of Thakurgaon Sadar Thana unit BNP Abdul Hamid, were present.
