Awami League backed candidate Monir Uddin Moni has won the Sarishabari municipality election in Jamalpur district.

He bagged 27,499 votes with the boat symbol where his rival BNP-backed candidate AKM Faizul Kabir Talukder Shahin got 4,471 votes.

Another candidate Fazlul Haque Khan bagged 139 votes with the coconut tree symbol.

Returning Officer and District Election Officer Golam Mostafa announced the results after collecting election information from the control room set up in the Upazila Parishad hall after the polls on Saturday.
