Another struggle needed to establish society without oppressors, ensure everyone’s rights: Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer
On reforms, he said not the constitution, but God has to be made source of all power
Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher has warned those with ill motives, saying that all the conspiracies against the nation will be resisted.
In a meeting held by Jamaat's Mainamati organisational unit at Nimsar in Cumilla's Burichang upazila today (26 September), he said, "Although we have liberated the country for the second time, we are yet to get complete freedom. We need another struggle, which is to establish a society without oppressors and extortionists, and where the rights of everyone will be ensured," Taher said.
During the meeting, the Jamaat leader mentioned that those who fear the Almighty do not fear anyone else.
"Those who bow their heads in front of God do not compromise with anyone else. That is why we need to change ourselves first, for if we can change ourselves, we can change the country," Taher added.
The Jamaat leader also said the interim government is reforming the country and they have told the government to bring about changes in the election system.
"Currently, the constitution is the source of all power. It has to be changed and Allah has to be made the source of all power. The providence of God has to be established in His land," Taher said.
In the meeting, the Jamaat leader re-emphasised the need for the government to complete the required restructuring and transfer power in the hands of an elected government through an election.
Assistant Secretary of Jamaat's Cumilla district unit and Burichang upazila Ameer Principal Mufti Aminul Islam presided over the meeting.
