Chhatra League leader suspended for assaulting journalists
Riyad assaulted few journalists in capital’s Faridabad area while they were performing professional duties
Chhatra League leader Shahidul Islam Khan Riyad, the vice president of Dhaka South Chhatra League, has been suspended for breaching organisational discipline.
A press release signed by Chhatra League Central Committee President Al Nahian Khan Joy and General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee made the disclosure today.
Riyad assaulted few journalists in capital's Faridabad area while they were performing professional duties during the Dhaka city corporation elections on February 1.
The assaulted journalists are- Nurul Amin, staff reporter of The Business Standard; Ibrahim Sarker, special correspondent at the Photo Bangla Agency; Mostafizur Rahman Sumon, Crime Reporter of the online news portal Agami News; Sheikh Hasan, chief photographer of Kaler Kantha; Mahabub Momtaji and Golam Rabbani, staff reporters of Bangladesh Pratidin; Zisad Ikbal, special correspondent of PBA (Press Bangla Agency); Osman Goni, photo journalist of Poriborton; Al-Fatah Mamun, Gandaria correspondent for the Daily Jugantor; Shamchul Islam, staff reporter of Daily Naya Diganta and Faruk Hossain, Staff Reporter of Daily Inqilab.
Later today Nurul Amin and Mahabub Momtaji filed a general diary with Gendaria police station.
